When Does a Growing Company Need a Fractional HR Leader?

There is a wide gap between an HR generalist who administers benefits and an executive who can build people strategy. Many growing organizations need the second far earlier than they can justify the salary of a full-time HR executive.

A fractional HR leader fills that gap. The engagement is scoped to the work that matters: designing compensation structures, preparing for an acquisition, rebuilding a broken hiring process, coaching managers, or stabilizing HR between leaders.

Consider fractional leadership when any of these are true: leadership is spending significant time on people issues, you are entering a period of rapid hiring, you operate in more than one state, you are preparing for or integrating an acquisition, or your HR team is strong on administration but has no strategic partner.

The goal is not permanent dependence. A good engagement leaves behind systems, documentation, and internal capability — so the organization becomes more self-sufficient over time, not less.
